Writing Detailed Essays With Strong Subject MatterThe more you write in a descriptive manner the better your chances of having a truly productive semester. There are two things that make a good descriptive essay topic: You have to make sure that the contents are interesting and that you have to make it strong enough to stand out above all the other ideas. That's why you can find two or three hundred and fifty themes to choose from, plus hundreds of sub-topics.
In order to make sure that you are selecting a topic with proper subject matter, you should understand what the topics are for. Of course, some of the topics might seem broad, but the great ones all have something to do with the college experience. This is very important because these subjects will give you a point of reference that you can use every time you are reviewing the materials. You don't want to find out later that your essay topics have been varied and strange. Before you select a topic, you must take a look at the definitions of the topics that you are most familiar with. Then, you must think about the role that each one plays in the essay. For example, you might know that a descriptive essay is writing for text entry purposes. This means that you are dealing with one or two lines in the essay. That's why there's little room for an authorial voice, so as you write on the first paragraph, make sure that you are relating your knowledge to your subject of interest. As you go through the tips and advice given in the book 'Write, Think and Power' by Paul Auster, you will find that one of the topics is what professional writers call 'the 'frame story'. The purpose of this is to try to convince the reader that they should be interested in what the writer has to say, and therefore should give them their attention. In the article that you are writing, make sure that you know why you are writing about the subject. If you are writing about sports, make sure that you talk about why this particular sport interests you. Try to avoid taking your subject too seriously and focus more on the content rather than the subject itself. In general, if you have two or three themes for your essay, they can serve you better than one. Take care to ensure that the topics aren't too general. Make sure that your topic and the way you are using it are the same. When you take a closer look at your topic choices, you'll be surprised to see how much more material you will have to work with.
